MNPEA files for Mediation with Hennepin County

Hennepin County Government Center
Today, November 12, 2015 Hennepin County and MNPEA met for the THIRD time to "negotiate" the contract for the Detention Deputies, Telecommunicatiors, and Techs.

For the THIRD TIME THE COUNTY WOULDN'T DISCUSS WAGES!

WTF! How can you bargain in good faith and not be prepared to discuss wages after three meetings?

The County with the highest paid Sheriff in the State, at $158,000 a year, and the highest paid County Board at $104,000 a year keeps the essential employees in the largest jail in the state, and their 911 operators as the LOWEST PAID in the seven county metro area.

Apparently public safety doesn't rank high on the list of the Hennepin County Board!

Gov. Candidate Jeff Johnson thinks you get paid TOO much

This is the video of the Hennepin County Board approving our contract. The single NO vote came from Minnesota Gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson

He believes the step raises are"too much."

Too much for Detention Staff working in a dangerous environment and for stressed out 911 Dispatchers.

Too much for a job class that has had 5 years of wage freezes.

In Jeff Johnson's world you should start at one rate and stay there forever, except for small occasional cost of living raises to keep you exactly where you started as inflation occurs.

This is a no vote from a man who has made the largest most dangerous jail in the State the lowest paid in the seven county metro area.

This coming from one of the highest paid County Commissioners in the State. A man making six figures a year and one of the only County Board members with a tax payer paid take home car!

Is this the man we want for Governor?

Remember this at the polls in November.

Hennepin County Commissioners responsible for your low wages.

Mike Opat- up for re-election
These are the highest paid County Commissioners in the State of Minnesota. They average about $98,000 a year in salary.

Together they have made us the lowest paid Detention Deputies in the seven county metro area. Even though we run the largest most dangerous county jail in Minnesota. The only ACA accredited jail in the state.

The only way to get real change is to get a board elected that is as interested in employees as new buildings and equipment.

Three are up for re-election. Mike Opat, Jan Callison and Linda Higgins.
