Hennepin County Commissioners responsible for your low wages.

Mike Opat- up for re-election
These are the highest paid County Commissioners in the State of Minnesota. They average about $98,000 a year in salary.

Together they have made us the lowest paid Detention Deputies in the seven county metro area. Even though we run the largest most dangerous county jail in Minnesota. The only ACA accredited jail in the state.

The only way to get real change is to get a board elected that is as interested in employees as new buildings and equipment.

Three are up for re-election. Mike Opat, Jan Callison and Linda Higgins.

Wade, you state several times that HCSO Detention Deputies are the lowest paid in the 7 county metro area. Do you have the rates for other counties? I'm curious about Anoka County. Anoka County License Deputies top pay is 29.04 per hour, whereas HCSO License is $30.27. This is per the current job posting on anoka county's website.

Hey anonymous, first of all I don't give a rat's ass what licensed deputies get. We are detention deputies.

Here's a quote from BMS Case No. 12-PN-0697

"With no wage increases since 2009 and no steps, many employees have been close to the
starting wage for almost 4 years and Hennepin County has the lowest starting wage of
any metro area county, ranking dead last compared to the Met Council 7 counties starting
detention wages. The County also ranks third to last compared to the 7 County Metro
counties in top wage pay. Looking at its only true arbitration award comparable, Ramsey
County, the Hennepin Detention Unit is $5.62 per hour behind the Ramsey County
Detention unit at the top hourly wage."

Most of our detention deputies are years behind where they should be.
