Seriously sick of this misinformation crap

The Star Tribune is falsely reporting: A witness in two murder cases was beaten up by the man he implicated when the two were inadvertently put in the same holding cell at the Hennepin County jail, according to charges filed Thursday.

I'm sick to death of the jail getting blamed for other divisions screw ups. These inmates were put together not in the jail, but in the holding cells at court. The article goes on to say, The witness was not seriously hurt, said Lisa Kiava, a spokeswoman for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Isn't Lisa Kiava supposed to provide facts? How about telling the press where the assault actually occurred?

Of course we've all seen the "red ribbons" being passed out to everyone who assisted in the RNC, everyone except the Detention Deputies and techs. During the RNC all days off were cancelled, all days were 12 hours long (22 hours on one day for the SRT Team when a busload of protesters was being processed) and we worked anywhere from 15 to 20 days in a row depending on what squad we were on.

So it appears we get blamed for other divisions screw ups and get no credit for our hard work. What else is new?

Also, the Detention Techs worked the same 12 hour shifts, and received NO recognition! WTF, we are supposedly members of the TEAM?

That ribbon was given out by the St. Paul PD, NOT HCSO! Many licensed guys were left out if they weren't on St. Paul's direct payroll. We all did a great job sitting around and doing nothing! Most of the time making $BANK$ while doing so. Your paycheck is your thanks.

If you don't like it, get licensed! Or don't put out a no confidence vote that stalls before it even gets started... False promises to all! Now you must pay for it the rest of "his" career! GOOD LUCK!

tontiger you are correct. No recogntion for you either.

Anonymous, for the record ALL of our overtime was billed as RNC backfill and came from the same pot of money that St. Paul was given to dole out. Funny you should know where the ribbons came from. When I emailed the inspectors last week all I got was silence.

What does this have to do with having a 'license'? Does that make you special? My barber has a license. I thought this was about recognizing everyone who put in long hours and days for the 'success' of the RNC or in your mind is this only for the special ones? For the record if we didn't back fill the jail a lot of you guys wouldn't have been able to be out there. After all, someone had to guard the perimeter and steal our pizzas :)

And confidence, like endorsements is earned.

Yes, St. Paul doled out the bill, but it wasn't direct like it was for the licensed deputies that were actually in St. Paul, more specifically, at the Excel Energy Center. This ribbon is NOT coming from HCSO, if they care to recognize all your "hard" work, then they can do their own... Right now, this is St. Paul's ribbon, not HCSO, so cool down! All you will get is silence, it didn't come from them!

For the record, the pizzas were NOT stolen, the licensed guys were offered one pizza when ordered... When the order came, someone different came out to get it, the licensed guys then grabbed theirs, which they were told they could have, and the det dep thought they were stealing it... Just the facts.

If you are so worried about a ribbon, you should've gotten licensed and got assigned to the Excel or a position that had public interaction... No one cares about the jail... NEVER have, NEVER will... Face the facts! Add to that the no confidence vote and good luck!

Your barber has a license? Good, he probably needed special education to get it... Just like cops do, special education... You may think that a license should just be handed out to anyone... You may think that anyone can do the "job"... But in reality, the state requires more from a licensed person than a non-licensed person... Just the facts.

Not trying to be harsh... But the facts are the facts...

Anonymous your response says it all.

interesting thing about all of this? Soon we will ALL be licensed. It's all ready in the works. Check it out for yourself.

wow!! all that special education to be licensed makes people special.... must be why the majority of the counties licensed deps are everyone else's rejects. Just the facts. Seriously calm down. Are we really arguing over pizza!! Grow some and grow up!

I hope the Detention guys do get the licensing passed through the state. Corrections however, will still remain separate from a sworn peace officer position. Even though you continue and desperately try to be just like the sworn staff. There needs to come a time when you are content with what you do. Not continue to try to be like someone else. If you want to get sworn and hold a peace officers license, then you need to do the minimum in order to get there, which is yes, a little more than what is required to be locked down along with inmates.

Well Mr. Anonymous you are talking a whole lot wirh out saying who u are, that must take some balls and if you are licensed I'm not sure why you're even on this blog. We all know no one cares about the jail we're not retards but, there are a ton of licensed deps doing the same job as detention deps! And I'm sure you did at some point as well. So keep your comments to yourself and go do some"real cop stuff" oh wait no licensed guys in the county do real cop stuff! So go sit in a court room and look pretty or better yet go patrol Corcaran!

I feel your pain. At HCSO, the saying goes "If you aint sworn, you aint born."

Dispatchers who played a vital role were, to no surpise, left off the list for the RNC pins. So, as the email directed, contact Cassandra Whittley or whatever her name is to inform her. I did and never did get a response. Yesterday Tollin asked me who from disaptch worked it. Steward from radio.
