KSTP is reporting that
Juvenile crime in Hennepin County, similar to most other metro counties, is witnessing an increase in juvenile crime.
Hennepin County Commissioner Jeffrey Lunde told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the county is on schedule to open a new facility for juveniles in South Minneapolis by the end of the year.
Lunde said the $20-million renovation project will have between 14 and 16 beds with specific goals.
“You know we’ve been waiting for beds all over the state, right? So, this allows us to bring kids in —stabilize them and find out kind of what their acute needs are,” said Lunde.
