Click on the picture to enlarge. A meeting has been set for March 27th, 2008 with the Department of Labor and Industry, the VA's Field Representative for the State Approving Agency for the OJT Program and the Sheriff's Administration.
Hopefully the issue can be resolved and the OJT benefits restored to our vets.

Well...anything new come out of the "meeting"?
Yes, it lasted well over an hour. Because the HCSO dropped out they must basically re-start from scratch. They are inclined in that direction and will be sending the feds everything they asked for. With a little luck the program might be restored to the detention deputies and possibly expanded to our licensed veterans as well. All in all a very productive start.
How convienant for them. I wonder how long they will drag thier feet on this. Was there a timeline for them to submit all required documentation? Because if there wasn't, I am just guessing that they won't submit anything for quite some time...try to wait us out!
Who the fuck cares; nobody the department to the other veterans; why are there only a few that thought fought for this?
Its sad that everyone lets them drag there feets really sad.

Who cares? The deputies (both licensed and detention) that's who cares! Who should care? Everybody. If this department wants to take away a benefit that the veteran bought and paid for, well before they became an employee of this department, then what is to say that they won't try this with deputies who are not veterans and the benefits they bought and paid for. Forget the honor and courage it takes to serve this nation for a moment. The benefits are another good reason to serve our nation. These benefits are being taken away or denied by this department, a department that has had nothing to do with the veteran earning these benefits. The money the veretan is allowed to have does not come out of thei sheriff's pocket, and does not come out of the county's pocket. It comes out of "an account" the vet establishes upon entrance to the military. The fact that "the program" was established years ago, and was acceptable up until last November is one thing. The fact that, this department and their own opinion thinks that it is not acceptable and therefore removes the program without the deptuies knowledge or consent is a huge problem.
Now my advice for you is to proof read your comments before you post them. And post your comments about something you know.
